SEASON1:3 THE EAGLE HAS CRASH LANDED
Hello Everyone, I have officially made it to Wels!! I have been here exactly a week today and it has been so amazing.
The first day I got here we immedialty went over to a members house for dinner and it was so amazing, we shared a spiritual thought about having faith on Jesus Christ and sister Hess (the mom of the family) ended up bearing her testimony and it was amazing.
We had so many blessings come our way this week that I can't even name them all. But my favorite part of the week was on Saturday when we went to buy gloves and garbage bags so that we could do service around Wels and pick up trash. We went a place called Bauerhaus which is basically European Home Depot and it was the most American thing ever. We find our gloves and we go to pay and the lady at the registers said something along the lines of blah blah blah carte blah blah. Which in my mind meant are you paying with cash or card, and so I replied “mit carte bitte” and then she got really mad because she meant we had to have a membership to shop here and so we left.
We decided to go to our local store and pray that they had gloves in the random isle of clothing. But when we pulled up Elder Holland notice a group of youth with about 5 shopping carts full of food, and immedialty I knew that he planned to go ask if we could help and I did not want to do that in the slightest because I do not speak German, nor do I understand German when Austrians are speaking it.
We get out of the car and Elder Holland hides behind a sign to get his thoughts together, we walk up to them and ask to help and at first they were really skeptical and asked us all these questions about who we were and then they were super kind and were all for the help. While this was going on I had no idea what they were saying and we finished loading the car and Elder Holland told me to get in. Why you may ask, Well I had no idea but appparently we were going to help them unload all the food and then have lunch with them.
We get to the place and the girl that has been talking with us this whole time starts introducung us to all these catholic priests because apparently they were a catholic youth group.
When we finish unloading, Mariella took us on a tour of the monastary and then we were on a walk with everybody, and then we were walking into a church and then we were sitting down and it clicked in my brain that we were now going to have mass with them. At some point Mariella got up to go sing and Elder Holland turns to me and ask how I was doing because he could see my leg shaking. It had been about 3 hours at this point sense the last time this man spoke to me and I just turned and said to him, "I have no IDEA how we got here." which the complete truth, I don't understand German and I had no idea what was going on, all I knew is that I had left my bag with my passport and debit cards in the car and we were now nowhere near there and the driver had left an hour ago.
Luckily I did get my bag back, someone had very kindly put it in the church for me. And that was the very summed up version of the crasiest day ever.
We also had zone conference this last week and that was so much fun, we all dressed up in lederhosen and thrachten and had a talent show and I got to meet so many new missionaries and they are all so awesome, and I can already tell that I am going to love them all!
The day before zone conference we went to go buy our lederhosen and my card kept getting declined, my first assumption was that it was to much since they were literally $279 Euros which is like $350. But what actually happened is they shut off my card because they suspected fraud even though we told them I was going to be in Europe for 2 years! so that was really embarrassing, but not quite as embarissing as when Elder Holland tried on his lederhosen and came out with them in BACKWARDS!!
Anyways that is mainly all beside today, we got to go in a hike in a place called Hallstatt which is the place that the town from the movie Frozen is based off of and it was so much fun and so beautiful and I am currently putting together a video about it so if you are friends with me on facebook look for that soon.
Also we got a brand new car and his name is Hans and he is fantastic.
Bye, I love you all,
Love Elder Galli
